چکیده

Practitioners and researchers use vulnerability indices to understand the conditions that influence hazard risk. However, there has been little research on how well such depict household-scale specific hazards. We examined relationships between an all-hazard index a hazard-specific with household-level adaptive resources, behaviors, proximate sensitivities, self-reported health outcomes related extreme heat. Household measures were drawn from stratified random sample survey conducted in Phoenix, Arizona, USA (n = 163). The results point different experiences households more less heat vulnerable areas. largest differences by (Heat Vulnerability Index) primarily involved resources whereas indicators of sensitivity strongly differentiated (Social Index). Differences neighborhoods evident using HVI than SoVI, although effect sizes either small confidence intervals wide. relationship several varied across four study sites. ways which communities differ one another varies based adaptation, sensitivity, or outcome measure interest, location within city, choice index.
